More culinary explorations

For Chinese New Years, I made myself an arugula, mushroom, and cheese salad thanks to my balcony plant.  I've never tried balsamic vinaigrette with dijon mustard before, but I was glad to find that it worked well with the mushrooms.
Nothing more Chinese than reheated pizza and salad.
Unfortunately, the cilantro is now dead.  Mom came and aggressively chopped off all the cilantro because they've been ready for harvest.  This made a delicious meal, but made the plant all wimpy in the LA dry heat.

Today, I cooked duck for the first time ever, which is kind of pathetic given how much I love to eat it.  But it was (mostly) a success!  That is, I cooked for roughly 40 minutes and then ate everything in less than 10.

Searing duck and rendering some of that fat.

The sauce was a bit too salty, but yay colors!
