Sometimes, a Saturday morning is meant for relaxation and enjoyment of life. Today, a friend and I went to Valen Dolce in Santa Monica for a tea tasting.

Want some tea? |
The shop itself is brightly lit and has a slight antique slant to the decor. The music was soft and fairly unobstrusive. In the course of two hours, we finished a total of 5 pots of tea, 5 macaroons, and 2 desserts. Candy, the store front manager, never made us feel like we were there for too long. In fact, when I asked her about studying there, she mentioned that it is quite a popular spot for students during weekday evenings and weekend afternoons. We left before 2pm, so it may have been to early for the crowd, but only 3 other groups of people came through during our time there.
I plan on returning to give studying there a try. There is also a whole foods right across the street, and the neighborhood to the north was nice and quiet (but apparently expensive). Still, definitely something to keep in mind about this area of Santa Monica as I start looking for apartments next spring.
