This was an exciting weekend of fun and family.
First, Mom is finally here in LA to see me, which is the best birthday gift. We had happy snuggly time all weekend long. Here is some proof...
First, we went to see the gardens at Huntington Library. The sky was blue, the grass green, and the flowers were abloom. Even though we did not visit many of the indoor exhibits, the gardens were really as beautiful as people have told me. I can definitely understand why people would have their weddings and/or wedding photos taken there.
Afterwards, we had a lovely birthday dinner at Kabuki, where the food, sake, and conversation went swimmingly together.
On Sunday, we went to visit the Underwood Family Farm Harvest Festival. There was an extended horse-drawn carriage ride through the farm (thanks to Cornell's mini fundraiser event) along with some pretty bad food (deep fried everything). However, it was exciting to know that they've planted the strawberries already and will open the plots to strawberry picking by visitors starting in March.
Unfortunately, the weekend does end, so soon after the farm visit, mom left LA for cold cold Boston.
