Some people celebrate their birthday with a few friends. Some have a giant party with the police involved. But you know what all those people are doing incorrectly? Only celebrating for one day!
We start the month on a good note with flowers from me to me on behalf of mom. :)
My old roommate and I went to visit my aunt the weekend before my birthday and slept over for the first time. I got to be a little giddy and dressed up before relaxing with a massage and the best dinner spread.

Even the TV knew that it was time to relax. |
I got to have a lazy day at home on my birthday, which was awesome. Sleeping in, cooking, and watching TV. It was like I didn't have exams on microbiology the week after. I followed that up with Friday night out at The Spare Room in Hollywood for some classy funtimes with friends.

ULTIMATE JENGA! |
There unfortunately had to be a break in the middle where I learned some bugs and drugs that kill bugs.
But then, it was time for block party! This would be first block party that I've been to since December 2011. The fact that this party was being hosted by a classmate at his parents' house intrigued me. Also, he promised EtOH and non-EtOH focused funtimes, so on the bus to Encino I went. And I was blown away by how amazing the place was. Stone lions in the front, a pool and LARGE hot tub in the back. Not that I took advantage of the hot tub...no folliculitis for me, thanks anyways. It was a great night where I was actually able to sit down and catch up with all sort of people that I haven't seen in weeks (or didn't realize were in my med school class...).

All the decorations survived the night!
I was so proud of my classmates, who had clearly matured over the summer. |

S'more making station! Not quite as good as a real fire, but good enough. |

There was even a fire dancer!!! |
